MineTech – International competition of mining challenges and solutions
Finding the best possible technological solution for a mine planning, construction, modernisation or closure is a complex task and often involves creative approach and analysis of alternative offers. Striving to achieve greater efficiency in knowledge exchange and engagement between the local mining companies and international vendors the MINEX Central Asia Forum in Astana (Kazakhstan) in partnership with ERG is organising MineTech competition of mining challenges and solutions.
The competition is designed around a win-win formula: the mining companies will get a wide spectrum of turnkey solutions from local and international providers. The vendors will have a chance to demonstrate the application of their products and technologies for resolving specific cases. The forum delegates will participate in lively discussions and learn about new technologies and solutions.
After the competition the mining companies will be able to create a super challenge and invite the winners to implement the proposed solutions.

MINEX Forum and Eurasian Resources Group challenge international mining solution providers
We are calling on international and local mining consulting, engineering and technological companies to present solutions for 26 technological challenges offered by ERG.

Companies interested in offering solutions must submit presentation proposals before 15 March.
How the competition works

- If you have potential solution please register speaker before 31 March here
- Speaker will be expected to present solution in front of the ERG jury on 20 April in Astana. Speaker can present solutions for up to 3 challenges. Simultaneous English-Russian translation will be organised by MINEX Forum. In case the speaker cannot attend the Forum, the solution may be presented via Skype (please enquire by writing to admin@minexforum.com)
- The best solutions will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Forum and widely covered in the national mining and business media. The winners will be presented at the MINEX Awards Gala Dinner on 20 April with the competition diplomas and prizes.
- After the competition the winners may be called to compete for a super challenge and invited to implement the proposed solutions.

Challenger – a company of organisation offering up a case or technological challenge
The cost of the Challenger package is – $ 6,500 USD
Applications and Challenging cases must be submitted to the Forum organisers no later than 15 March 2017
Challenger package includes the following benefits:
– An opportunity to offer up to 5 technical challenges for the competition
– An opportunity to set up judging panel to evaluate solutions and decide the winners
– A possibility of arranging individual meetings with the completion participants during the Forum
– Four passes for company representatives to participate in the MINEX Forum, an evening reception and the Gala Dinner
– An advertising page in the forum catalogue.
– Participation in the awards ceremony
Super-challenge – challenger companies may offer financial rewards to the winners for the on-site implementation of the proposed solutions.
How it works for challengers
Participating in the competition a mining company can achieve a number of objectives. The obvious one is to potentially resolve a technical challenge and broaden the pool of equipment and solution suppliers. The company may also use the competition to stimulate internal innovation.
Challenges submitted for the competition may either be real (e.g. using real names with detailed parameters) or realistic (names omitted and parameters not fully disclosed). The organisers leave the selection and design of the challenges to companies.
Preparation stage
To partake in the competition a company must submit the following documents:
- Completed application form.
- A worksheet with description the description of challenges.
- Corporate profile to be published at the forum website.
- Information about the jury panellists who will evaluate solutions.
Challenges proposed for the competition will be published on the forum website and announced in regular news bulletins and press-releases.
Prior to the Forum the challengers will receive the list of providers for review and will be offered facilities for organising face-to-face meetings.
Presentation Stage
The presentation of challenges and solutions will be take place on the 20th of April at the Radisson Hotel in Astana. The forum organisers will be provide an auditorium equipped with a jury podium, screen, projector, sound system and a simultaneous translation with Russian and English language options. Entry is free for forum participants, media and exhibition visitors.
Up to 5 solutions can be presented per challenge. The jury will be able to question presenters and determining the best solution while the audience will be offered the opportunity to cast their votes to determine the most creative solution.
The competition winners will be awarded with the diplomas and prizes at the awards ceremony to be held at the Gala dinner on 20th April at the Radisson Hotel in Astana.
After the forum the solutions presented at the competition will be passed on to the challenger in digital format and in agreement with the authors published in the forum materials.
Participant – a company or specialist offering solution for one or more competition challenges.
The cost Participant package is $ 750 USD
The Participant package contains the following benefits:
– A possibility of presenting solutions for up to 3 cases (not more than 20 minutes a presentation)
– One delegate pass to the MINEX Forum, evening receptions and the gala-dinner.
– Competition participation diploma
– An opportunity for one-on-one meeting with the completion challengers.
– Participant information publication in the forum catalogue and on the forum website.
-The use of the conference room, equipped with a screen, a projector, a sound system and simultaneous translation into English
– Video and photo recording of the presentation
– Publication of the proposed solutions in the forum post-event report (subject to approval from the Challenger)
How it works for participants (solution providers)
For service and technology providers participation in the competition is both a challenge and an opportunity. Preparing solution for specific challenges undoubtedly takes more time and resources. However, at the same time presenters will be able to better understand the technical challenges facing the mining companies and increase the chances of attracting new orders and clients.

To participate in the competition the company is required to submit the following documents:
- Application for participation in the forum and competition
- Presenter’s bio and photo (to be published in the Forum documentation)
- Slides outlining proposed solution for each challenge
Presentation stage
Presentations will be taking place on the 20th of April at the Radisson Hotel in Astana. The forum organisers will provide an auditorium equipped with a screen, projector, sound system and a simultaneous translation with Russian and English language options
A participant can present solutions for up to 3 challenges. (limited to 20 minutes for each presentation).
Entry is free for forum participants, media and exhibition visitors.
The solutions will be reviewed by the jury representing the challenger. Each challenge may include presentations of up to 5 solutions. The jury will question presenters and determine the best solution while the audience will be offered the opportunity to cast their votes to determine the most creative solution.
The competition winners will be awarded with the diplomas and prizes at the awards ceremony to be held at the Gala dinner on 20th April at the Radisson Hotel in Astana.
